(Core Competency #1: Risk Management Technical Skills) Selecting and working with an international medical and evacuation insurance provider is a crucially important but daunting task for higher education professionals. This session will outline key considerations and lessons learned in selecting an international insurance provider from senior stakeholders at an institution who recently undertook a provider search. Topics include: the importance of international insurance coverage as a way to manage international risk; key elements to request in a policy; how to conduct a successful provider search and assess your institution's unique needs for international insurance coverage; and tips for managing the transition to a new provider.

As a result of participating in this session, attendees will:

+ Identifying the most important elements of an international health & evacuation insurance program for students, faculty and staff traveling internationally;
+ Conducting a successful search process and assessing an institution's unique needs for international health coverage; and
+ Effectively managing the transition to a new provider.
