(Core Competency #2: Strategic Management) We all know this is not a simple question. Recent high-profile claims and events are prompting boards and other senior administrators to ask whether their institutions have the right coverage and sufficient limits in place to respond to a catastrophic event. Anticipating the question and planning your response may make the difference between getting a seat at the decision table or simply being a backroom resource to the discussion.
Speakers will explore how to help the board understand what questions they should be asking and how calculating the total cost of risk (TCOR) and simple risk mapping techniques can broaden the board’s thinking about risk and risk mitigation. They’ll also discuss some of the situations that are causing increased concern about limit adequacy and breadth of coverage, as well as how the 3% rule and peer benchmarking can help to answer questions about coverage.

As a result of participating in this session, attendees will gain a better understanding of:

+ How to prepare a response to the question “Do we have enough insurance?”
+ TCOR and risk mapping techniques
+ How the 3% rule and peer benchmarking can help determine adequate coverage
+ Key elements that should be included in one’s answer to the board
